We all get them, don’t we? Those days when you waken up, don’t want to put both feet on the floor and would rather just pull the duvet over your head?
There are a lot of reasons to feel like this, of course. Whatever the reason, when your energy levels are down and you’ve lost your ‘mojo’, it can be difficult to boost your energy levels and get yourself going again.
Modern life can certainly take its toll and there’s an abundance of reasons why your daily routine can prove stress-inducing and energy-sapping…..
It’s well known that using your smartphone late at night can disrupt your sleep pattern. The mental engagement alone can stop you from winding down, while the blue light of the screen has been proven to disrupt melatonin production. The overall impact can make you feel tired and less engaged the next day, so it’s a good idea to switch your phone off at a reasonable hour.
Are you finding yourself drowning in a sea of paperwork? Does your desk resemble a small Brazilian rainforest? A cluttered workspace not only uses up mental energy, but can also increase both stress and exhaustion, so it’s worth taking a morning to cut the clutter – physically and mentally!
Although you may think that having a drink before bedtime will help you relax, it can actually disrupt your sleep and cause you to waken during the night. That’s because the alcohol metabolizes in your system, giving you an adrenaline surge and causing you to waken up. If you are going to have a drink in the evening, make sure it’s no later than four hours before you go to bed.
And speaking of night-time, try and keep to a bedtime routine. Research has proven that people who go to bed at the same time each evening tend to be more alert the next day than those, who have an irregular bedtime.
Even when you feel like slouching on the sofa like the proverbial couch potato, it’s a good idea to go for a walk or do some exercise. Regular exercise – even a short walk – will help to increase both your physical energy and your ability to concentrate and focus, so get moving!
Here are ten of the best energizing aromatherapy recipes that you can pop into your diffuser and try out. You’re bound to find one that works best for you….
